Keep Your Lips Moisturized This Winter With Hydrating Lip Balms

The arrival of winter always comes with visions of first snow, hot drinks, and a whole lot of holiday cheer. Unfortunately for a lot of us, it also means breaking out our humidifiers and desperately hoping for a few more weeks of plump, moisturized skin. We’ve formulated our Hydrating Lip Balms to be the ultimate winter warriors - packed with hydrating ingredients like shea butter and coconut oil, they’ll replace all of that lost moisture and lock it in with protective barriers so you can go all day without feeling like you need to put it on every hour. We’ve also made it completely vegan! No longer will you have to choose between an effective lip balm and a cruelty-free one, we’ve made ours the best of both worlds.
Coconut oil is truly the heaviest lifter in this formula. A known multi-tasker, it has been used for ages as a hydrating ingredient for both skin and hair as well as a healthy cooking oil. It has important anti-inflammatory properties, so it reduces all of the extra redness that can come with a long day out in the cold. It’s also an emollient. Emollients form protective barriers on your skin that lock moisture in and help keep things like UV rays and toxins out. In other words, it’s great for soothing painful chapped lips, a common winter ailment.

Shea butter, like both coconut and jojoba oil, has a long history in skincare. It’s hard to walk down the hair and skin aisle without seeing at least a few products advertising their use of shea butter - and for good reason! It naturally contains vitamin A, a powerful antioxidant that protects your skin from harmful free radicals that cause early aging and other damage. Although it might now seem so important now, the effects build up over time. It’s also a sunscreen, so it keeps UV rays out just as well. Although you should always be using sunscreen, it’s nice to have a little bit more protection in place, just for good measure! Rich in fatty acids, shea butter is another ingredient that helps form a barrier on the skin, important for keeping all that moisture from evaporating right out!

Vitamin E, another key ingredient, is also an antioxidant. Just like the vitamin A found in shea butter, it helps promote cell regeneration and ward off fine wrinkles and other signs of damage. You might not think you need to start protecting against aging, but it’s always better to start early than too late! Your skin will thank you, we promise.

Finally, we use jojoba oil. This oil is a staple in our hydrating formulas. It has a very similar chemical makeup to the oil our skin produces. This means that we absorb it quicker than other oils and have less of a chance of irritation. Jojoba, just like coconut oil and shea butter, forms a natural barrier on your skin. We’re really not messing around with this trifecta of protective ingredients. The three of them work in harmony to make sure that all of the moisture in your lips stays put. Too often do lip balms leave you feeling drier than usual, making you feel like you have to reapply several times throughout the day. This formula will work with your skin, not against it, and keep every bit of moisture where it needs to be.

Pair our Hydrating Lip Balm with one of our Lip Masks and, if you want to go for the extra bit of rejuvenation, a Lip Scrub. Between the three of them, you won’t have to go all winter feeling uncomfortable in your own skin! At last, you can put on a nice, matte red for that December meeting and not find yourself worrying about flakes or dryness halfway through. We’re here for you.
